couples of days ago i was bored at night so i was surfing the net & happened to read xiaxue blog... sidetrack abit, i am not fan of any blogger but then it is nice to read their entries for entertainment.... anyway, i saw her recent post on ORRO & i was like omg tempted by what she posted on her blog....

so ORRO specialised in diamond stimulants, meaning diamonds lookalike ... i heard of synthetic diamonds but diamond stimulants is a whole new term to me... so curious me went to look up on the difference between synthetic diamonds & diamond stimulants... *all the information below are based on this post* synthetic is defined as something that is created by man through chemical-physical processes which means that synthetic diamonds are REAL diamonds in chemical term because they have the same crystal structure.. in you remember your sec sch chemistry lesson, the composition of diamond is actually just carbon but its uniform tetrahedral structure contribute to its hardness....

synthetic diamonds are synthesized using chemical means but it is abit hard to achieve gem quality diamonds but in term of structure & composition, they are the same, which is why they are also call 'artificial' diamonds...on the other hand, diamond stimulants are NOT diamonds at all... they are made from other material & after polishing & all to achieve the diamond look = diamond lookalike.... i think is something like crystals, they sparkle like diamonds but they are not...

so after the boring intro about different kind of diamonds, lets come to the REAL thing.... the thing that attract me on xiaxue blog is the diamond pictures.... really so real & pretty!!! *all photos were taken from ORRO website*

for ORRO they have mainly two different setting material: platinum vermeil or gold (be it 18K white gold, yellow gold or rose gold)... fyi setting refers to the ring material.... due to the different material, the ring prices will vary.... for platinum vermeil which is essentially silver, average ring will cost about S$200-300 depending on the amount of diamonds involved... as for gold setting, the ring will cost about S$1000 for the lower range and S$2500+ for higher ends....

there are also 2 types of diamond stimulants, the superior cut on platinum vermeil & master cut for gold setting... the main difference is that the stones are machine cut for former and hand-cut for latter... i assume hand-cut correspond to better quality cutting....

personally i am not a person who invest in jewellery as they are way too expensive for my budget & i am quite a heck care person, i just throw my things around... so i cant imagine myself having to like stare at my jewellery every 10sec just to make sure they are in place... that's just too tiring for me.... but recently, after looking at pretty diamonds, i am quite tempted to get one for myself to wear when i dress up or something... & real diamonds are way way WAY insanely expensive to buy, so when i saw xiaxue post on ORRO, i am really interested in getting one.... i will get the platinum vermeil setting cause it is cheaper.... i agree that for the gold setting, it can last longer & very affordable compared to real diamonds... but.... to get a ring that cost S$1k+ just to look pretty... that's totally not practical to me... of cause, if you have alot of $ to spare then sure, gold is definitely a better options.... so will probably head down to their showroom this weekend to check out the designs & whether the physical products look as good as it seem online =)
