*backdated entry*
went down to try hua ting with my friends for our meetup session.... heard of that place before but never gotten to try it since the price is quite steep there.... but since is end of the year, so i guess is ok to indulge alittle.... this restaurant is quite famous so my friend made reservation for three of us about 1wk before... but when we went down, apparently the restaurant was at most 60% full.... guess people preferred to go down for dinner....
anyway the restaurant is located on the 2nd floor in orchard hotel... the ambience is quite nice... look quite cozy and high class....

the cutlery.... |

the menu... |
the appetizer.... not very sure whats that but it taste quite nice |
actually i felt the choice of dim sum isnt alot but they do have some fancy dishes that I have never seen before....
ju chong fun... not too bad |
chicken mango pie |
pie filling |
i was actually very amazed by the chicken mango pie... at first i was very skeptical since i dont like fusion food & i dont think mango will go well in a chicken pie but hey.... final product was not bad... is quite tasty... & my friend absolutely love this dish ALOT
custard bun |
i prefer the more pastety custard than the liquid filling but still quite nice
bbq pork bun + chicken feet |
i dont like to eat meat bun, i felt is kind of gross to have the meat juice inside the bun which makes it feel so soft & sticky... but this bbq pork filling is quite nice, not too watery to make the bun soggy.... chicken feet was not bad either
fried rice |
i think some abalone slices was added to the fried rice, portion is quite small but if just to sample abit is still enough
sharkfin dumpling soup |
apparently the restaurant has quite a variety of sharkfin dumpling, poor us can only afford the cheapest one & this bowl already cost $11 if i didnt remember wrongly... some of them cost like 100+/bowl... scary....
in summary, i think is ok to try the dishes in hua ting, they are quite nice & exquisite... however, the price is really too much for a normal meal.... quite a number of credit cards have discount for the restaurant but citibank has the most which is 17% off... so the final bill was approx $30/pax... which i think is still manageable for a more high class chinese restaurant
