Day 1 in taichung

*back dated entry*

took the 6am+ flight to taipei via hongkong, so this was a super long flight, we only reached taoyuan airport approximately 2pm... 1 thing i really dont understand about taiwan is the super long queue/wait at the custom.... is like the staff were doing such a thorough check on every visitor that we waited almost 1hr to clear the custom.... that is like so omg unacceptable to me lo.... seriously, this is something that taoyuan airport really need to improve on.... so as a result of the super long queue at the custom, we have to like run to take bus to the taoyuan HSR station as we bought the 3.55pm train to taichung....but luckily we managed to catch the train about 10min ahead of time... heng ar....
took this bus to taoyuan station, the journey was approximately 15min
the platform
when the train come then the light will be on, quite a good concept
train is coming!!!!

on the train

the train journey was approximately 40-45min to taichung... after that we had to take the local train to the official taichung station to reach our hotel... we took our friend recommendation to stay in this hotel lo fu....

after coming out from the station, turn left & cross the road then walk straight, you will see this tuition center or something then turn in. after approximately 30m, you will see a family mart, turn into the small alley besides it

tada, you will see the hotel. slightly run down, more like a motel but for a budget traveler, i think it is fine
we stayed in a 3pax room, reasonably spacious but the room was way too hot even during winter, i guess the ventilation was not working

the toilet, ok lo... no bath tub
after taking a short break, we took bus #100 to the 一中夜市 which was actually near to some school... i think you just have to get down the stop where ALOT of people get off then should be the correct one.... the bad thing about taichung is that the place does not have a train system so to get around to places, you have to either take the bus or a cab for tourists... of cause, you can rent a car but i think the roads may be too confusing for a foreigner.... but the good thing is that for the first 8km of the bus journey, the ride is FREE!!!! so we didnt spend much on transport for the next few days since we go to relatively near places.....

some of the stores around
the famous chicken cutlet, quite nice
another famous store
the whatever bun thing they were selling, i didnt like it
some famous cuttlefish... quite nice

tada, the 一中夜市
i think 一中夜市was just average, i think may be it is more suitable for shopping than for food as i felt the food choices there was rather limited.... which was why, in the end, we went to get our all time favourite food = oden from 7-11 to end our day & returned to hotel and rest
7-11 oden, i think is one of the best food to eat in taiwan during winter
