lunch @ wrap & roll

today Dr Richard from US came over to NUS for a talk, since he was my lab mate previous boss, our lab went to have lunch with him at the NUS medical center... since south east asian food are rare in the US, we brought him to try wrap & roll which is a vietnamese food.... i heard about the store & there was quite a good feedback from it but the food is on the slightly pricey side so didnt get to try it beforehand... but now we have free lunch, so i am really excited to try it =)

the menu

the table setting... it even tell you how to DIY the wrap

the condiments... the chili doesnt look spicy but is very lethal!!!
my impression of vietnamese food is their beef noodle... pho.... i like the soup taste & the tender beef.... but for wrap & roll, they have a variety of starter rolls which i think is their selling point.... another thing i notice about vietnamese food is that, they tend to use fresh ingredients especially raw vegetables.... of cause it is healthy but some of the food look really raw to me.....

fish & pork roll

some other roll
first impression wasnt that good because the waiting time was way too long.... we ordered a 3 plates of fish & pork wrap cause there was 11 of us & each plate only have 4 pieces....i understand it takes time to prepare the wrap, so the first plate of wrap took about 15min to come, i can accept.... but it took another 15-20min for the 2nd plate to arrived & additional 10-15min for the 3rd plate to be served... i was like WTH??? dont you prepare the wraps all at 1 go??? we didnt order separately lea.... but fine... we have to act patient & civilsed in front of the prof....

second impression... woah... really FRESH veggie... the veggie taste is like god damn strong!!! the fish & pork roll i can still tahan but the second 1, me god... the veggie taste is really buay tahan.... is literally eating grass.... i had to remove the veggie & just eat other stuff.... verdict... definitely no more wraps for me....

grill pork chop rice
third impression... my main course = grill pork chop rice.... ok... at least is cooked food.... the pork chop is quite nice... then i like this fish sauce condiments that come with it... it has a semi-sweet taste which bring out the grill flavour on the pork chop & taste nice with the rice.....

i would say wrap & roll is quite an ok place to eat if you like to eat those raw wraps... their mains are not too bad but may be on the slightly above average pricing side.... i not sure about other outlet but the 1 at NUS medical center is definitely not efficient... there wasnt a lot of customers, so i think the waiting time for food is way to long....

sidetrack abit... let me show off my cutey peter rabbit socks for the day =)
