bloody monday

recently i started to re-watch some of the old japanese & one of them was bloody monday.... this drama was adapted from the manga bloody monday & it was aired quite some time ago, the first season was aired in 2008 followed by the sequel in 2010.... not sure if any of you have watched it before but i think it was a really well produced drama... the plot was really good as well as the whole production... in short, the plot revolved around this boy, a hacker, who helped in the fight against terrorism.... i dont really understand the hacking part since my computer knowledge is really limited but you can really feel the tension, the fight against time & the uncertainty about who is on your side.... when i first watched the drama couple of years ago, i didnt like it that much... but now when i re-watched it, i felt the plot was so real.... the chance of bio-terrorism or even terrorism is so imminent & i seriously cant imagine how we going to deal with it when it does happen.... but anyhow for now, it is just a really great drama & want to share with you guys.... you can watch it here.... bloody monday & bloody monday 2... the 2 theme songs for the drama were great too... both by flumpool... enjoy =)

useful home decoration & renovation tips

came across this page on facebook yesterday about home deco & i find it pretty useful, so want to share with you guys....

this page is really informative, some of the tips may not be suitable for us since not many of us will own a bungalow but other than that, there are some really useful tips....  things like how to place your rug, what kind of chair and table settings you can get, what kind of plants to get, etc... below are 2 of my favourite from that site...

colour scheme for your home

type of nails to use
personally i think the type of nails to use is very useful cause i always dont know what kind of fasteners to use.... as well as the colour scheme... really helpful.... do take a look especially if you intend to renovate your home.... have some basic ideas before engaging the contractors since most of the time they may not be very professional....

jamie italian

happy vday!!! how was your day!?!?!? hope it was filled with love =) i was actually kind of lazy to celebrate vday but since it is the first time to celebrate it as a married couple, i guess we should still do some standard stuff....  we didnt have any plan of what to eat for lunch since dinner hubby will cook for me =) i actually prefer a simple picnic of home cooked meal by loved ones over eating at some fancy restaurant... so when hubby said he will cook something special for me, i was really excited =)  we were consider going to either vivo or JEM to buy dinner ingredients so were scouting for food choices at those 2 places.... then hubby mentioned why not try jamie's restaurant? i was like ok, but i heard that place is always packed... so hubby called & woah!! we can make reservation!??!?! lucky!!!

look of the day
bought this dress from olives des olive, their new spring edition =) lovely dress but collar abit high for me... lovely socks from tutuanna, also new edition...  been wanting to wear this outfit since i bought it in japan 1 month ago =)

jamie/s italian

restaurant interior
food menu

drinks menu

table set up
the restaurant look pretty simple, give you more relaxing feel & i think they have 2 section of bar.... they have like a whole page of drinks & majority of them were like alcohol stuff....  hubby checked out the online menu beforehand so he knew what he want to eat... as for me, the plank thing attracted my attention & decided to give it a shot....

hubby's macchiato
the macchiato was really tiny... it was served in a expresso cup i think... & it cost $4.50... well... expensive coffee....

fish set plank
my lunch.... the plank is under appetizer section so really not that filling for a full meal... the calamari tasted really nice, fish and shellfish were fine... on the whole, i think this dish was ok.... nothing too fantastic..

220g rump steak
the steak tasted quite nice, pretty soft for a medium well though i would prefer more sauce... i guess is a asian thing that we prefer to drown our meat with sauces....

our famous polenta chips
we were really shock when saw this plate... cause our impression of chips will be either crispy potato chips or fries... but it turned out neither.... it actually looked somewhat like fried sweet potato to me... this polenta chips had an unique texture, outside was crispy but inside was still soft... it reminded me of some malay kueh.... not really my kind of food though.... i would say on the whole, jamie's restaurant was ok.... food prices i think were acceptable for a celebrity chef like himself.... but perhaps next time i will try pasta instead.... get myself a more filling meal....

after lunch, we went to vivo giant to buy dinner stuff.... me god!! there were so many people in giant!!! i guess all of them were preparing for chinese new year stuff & we chose the wrong time to buy our ingredients... but no matter, we gotten our stuff & got back home to cook dinner....

hubby's DIY vday dinner
so we had risotto with carrot, cream snapper & turkey bacon... some blached asparagus, mushroom & carrot... & pan fried salmon.... a pretty humble meal but really love it cause everything was prepared by hubby =)

rocky road fudge

as mentioned in my previous post about the strawberry and rocky road fudge recipe, i went to try it yesterday to prepare for this year valentine's day gift.... i made some slight adjustment to the online recipes & i will share my version below...

ingredients:
500g of milk chocolate chips
250g of dark (55%) chocolate chips
4 tbsp peanut butter
200g mini marshmallow
200g chopped almonds or any kind of nuts that you like
ingredients
these are all the ingredients that you will need... for this amount, you can make like 4 boxes (those rectangular plastic container used to take away food) i bought my ingredients from phoon huat but only after that i realised NTUC sell other brands of chocolate chips at same price... sian.... but luckily this bakeway chocolate tasted nice....

Steps:

1: first line your tray with baking sheet.... i used a large rectangular tray, i think about 8"x 12" &  my chocolate were like slightly smaller than an inch thick
tray with baking sheet

2. mix all the chocolate chips and peanut butter in a large bowl.....for the recipes online, they use semi-sweet & milk chocolate... but phoon huat doesnt sell semi-sweet one so i change to 2 packet of milk & 1 packet of dark since i dont want the chocolate to be too sweet...
chocolate chips with peanut butter

3. melt the chocolate + peanut butter mixture.... here is the VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT step & i kind of screw up mine.... there are 2 ways to melt your chocolate, either using a double boiler or microwave.... this page show you how to do it..... i used the microwave method & the recipe site didnt mention the power used to melt chocolate... so stupid me went to use high power... the chocolate did melt quickly but at the same time, they thicken & became pasty!!!!
pasty chocolate
at first i thought the phoon huat chocolate too cheapo, so will become pasty after heating but apparently i overheat my chocolate =( i made the common chocolate mistakes!!!! never NEVER use high or direct heat to melt chocolate!!! i only found that out after i finished making the fudge.... this site say that you can save your pasty chocolate by adding a little bit of water... so please remember to melt the chocolate in LOW power & stir constantly!!!

4. add marshmallow & nuts into the melted chocolate mixture....
marshmallow & almond in

5. spread the mixture on the tray
you can see mine chocolate was kind of lumpy & didnt cover the marshmallow well.... can you imagine how devastated i was when i spread out the fudge!?!?!? i was like all anticipating the molten chocolate & spread the fudge nicely on the tray but i couldnt =( but anyhow, after that you put the fudge in the fridge to chill it down for a couple of hours

6. cut fudge into small squares...
rocky road marshmallow

actually the final product didnt look as bad as i imagined!!! & when i gave them to my lab people, all of them said the fudge was AWESOME!!! yeah =) at least it tasted better than it look =) so girls & boys, do try out this recipe... really simple & fast, still have time to buy ingredients  & make it in the morning before giving them to your valentine... BUT just remember to melt the chocolate under low heat.....

to end off the post, let me share the beautiful bouquet that hubby gotten me... i was really surprised that he will buy me a bouquet... i was expecting like afew stalks since there isnt any florist in school.... probably gotten it from the NUH florist... but yeah... happy =)

brave frontier

as the title suggest, today i am going to talk about brave frontier.... personally i am not a gamer cause i cant understand how to play most of the games in the market.... normally i will only play bejewelled kind of game, brainless but just to kill time... another favourite of mine is find hidden object..... some sort of detective like game, no special key pressing skill needed so i am good to go.... the most chim game that i played so far wad maple story..... i started playing the game when i was in JC cause my classmates asked me to play... the starting was ok but very soon it became very complicated... you have to read online guide on where to hunt for items or what quests to complete... OMG!!! that's just too tiring & complicated for me, so i stopped playing after awhile..... recently i saw my friend playing brave frontier on his handphone... looks interesting but i didnt pay attention to it till my hubby played it... i saw him like hogging his phone for very long time just to play the game so out of curiosity, i took his phone to play & BAM!!! i got addicted too!!!

i think brave frontier is quite a popular game now since i quite often see people this game on the go.... & expected, this game is actually too complicated for me, so my job is just to play/fight in the battle... all those evolving or fusing units things, i will pass back the phone to hubby for him to do it... i think the attractive things about this game is the fancy characters... the costumes are like OMG nice!!! definitely give me many ideas for cosplay....

goddess lidith... photo taken from here...

holy night priscilla, photo taken from here...

inferno goddess elza, photo taken from here...

crimson hood ciara, photo taken from here...
the costumes are so damn nice right!??!?! when i saw them i was like OMFG nice!!! it actually remind me of dynasty warrior but like hybrid with maple story.... personal favourite costumes are priscilla & elza.... one is loli & the other is cool!!!! everytime when you use the special skill, burst blast, then you get to see a close up of the character... & each time i be awwwwww by the pretty characters..... is an android game so go & download & see those pretty characters for yourselves =)
